Look What I Made!

So, I have been seeing around the internet all these people creating digital scrapbook pages. I knew this was going to be my new hobby. I just didn't know how to get started. I went to various sites and read tutorials and downloaded a ton of free kits. Finally I decided that I just had to jump in! My mom and sister bought Creative Suite last year, so I installed Photoshop on my computer and started the process. My sister has been a great help showing me how to do certain things... I was stuck on how to resize a picture for awhile. How embarrassing! I kept resizing my whole page. Anyway, after a couple hours of work following a tutorial from The Digital Scrapbooking Place I created this page. Let me know what you think!

All of the elements are from The Digital Scrapbooking "Welcome Kit."

Um...The Smoke Detector....Works!

So last night Brett and I actually had the house to ourselves! Miracle! It was my mom's birthday, so we took her out to dinner. After dinner she met up with some old friends who happened to be in town this weekend. So she left at 8 and we had an evening alone. Of course, we took the opportunity to have some romantic time. We turned on the fireplace and lit some candles. We were playing a game with the lights out and all of a sudden...

Beep, Beep, Beep...

We immediately started running around opening windows and doors and trying to find where the heck the smoke detector was. I had never really thought about that. I would recommend finding those when you move into a new place. You all probably do that already and I am the one learning the lesson the hard way. Oh well. Brett found it and was able to turn it off after a couple of minutes.

This was actually kind of ironic as we had been joking around with my mom earlier about setting off the smoke alarm because of the number of candles we had to put on her birthday cake. He He.

Crazy busy!

It was a crazy weekend. Lots going on...

My best friend was in town this weekend visiting family, so Brett and I took her out to lunch on Saturday. We went to Marie Callendars because we really wanted the pie. It was a fun lunch. We brought her back to our house afterwards and Lita and I played Twitch. We used to play this game all the time! It was a fun flashback. I really miss having her around. She has lived in Ohio for the last five years. She wasn't supposed to be gone that long! But what can you do? She met her husband and got married one week before Brett and I. Now she is five months pregnant and he is trying to finish school. They plan on moving back here when he graduates in June.

Doesn't she look great? I love her so much. I can't believe that she is pregnant! She has been my best friend since we were two, so it is a little strange to think that she and I are both married and she is going to have a little boy Gabriel Christopher in February! Crazy!

After we dropped Lita back off at her house around 6, we headed off to dinner with our newly engaged friends. We are so happy for them! Nick totally surprised Lydia at her apartment on Friday night. He flew home from Rexburg to propose. Dave gave him a lot of help by buying the ring and roses and for picking him up at the airport and driving him over there. Rose petals were on the floor leading to the table with the ring in it. How cute is that? Looks like we are heading to Utah at the end of February for their wedding...Anyway, they are great. I absolutely love Lydia. She is the best. Here are couple pictures of the happy couple.

These pictures were taken on Sunday when we were all together watching the Seahawks game. I don't want to talk about that game at all. How atrocious. I don't think the defensive players knew they were playing football. Oh well. We had a good time hanging out with our friends...After we watched the game, Nick and Lydia and Brett and I headed off to different family gatherings. My mom's sister and her husband came over. Their second oldest son, Jake came over with his girlfriend Megan and daughter 15 month old Emma. Here are some pictures of us playing our favorite game Pounce. Gotta love that game. Well, I guess not. Brett doesn't really like it because he is not good at fast paced games like this one is. Oh well. He plays because he loves me and I ask him to. It was good to see Jo and Rob. It has been awhile.

In other news, I permed my hair last Friday. I really like it so far. The pictures above show my perm, but here is another pic. Let me know what you think!

Stress Relief!

This last month has been the most stressful month I think I have ever had. I am so glad that September is over!!

I have been running out of time during my planning because of all I have to do and then staying late after school to get all my work done. Today after I copied my tests during my planning period I sat down at my desk to see what else I needed to accomplish. I couldn't think of a single thing I needed to do! I still had 25 minutes left! How great is that? I felt like this huge burden was lifted off my shoulders. I was in such a good mood after that! It made my day! Along with a couple of other things...

1. One of the problem kids in 6th period was suspended for today and tomorrow! Yippee!

2. I think I have solved my 6th period problem. I am doing a few things are are working well. I am rewarding the 3-4 kids who are seated, silent, and writing in their notebooks. I have an Americorp volunteer 3 days a week who is takes out five kids to work with all period in the library. That makes the remaining group a little more manageable. The third thing I am doing is giving the kids behavior grades every day. Right now I am grading them, but soon I will have them grade themselves. The last two days have been pretty good which is nice because I was about to cry last week.

3. Tomorrow I am giving a test. In every period, for the entire period! That means I have all day to plan! YEA!! It is a good way to end the week. Although the tests need to be graded...I am not going to think about that right now.

4. My principal asked me to sit in on interviews for a new science teacher. The interviews are Monday afternoon. She asked me to get a half day sub. No 5th or 6th period...that WORKS for me!!! I am do happy!

5. There is no school next Friday, so I will only see my 6th period 3 days!!! =)

6. There is no school the Friday after that, so two 4 day weeks in a row!

For all of these reasons, I am pretty happy at the moment.
